Day 3 Nankoweap Canyon to Trinity Creek

During the mordayning of the third day, we visited the Little Colorado River. This stream, which appears approximately 8 miles from the Grand Canyon, is different from the "Big" Colorado is several ways. The water is much warmer, and is one of the few places that still support the native fish of the Canyon. The other is the water color. The Little Colorado looks more like a swimming pool than a river! Can you think of a reason for the difference? (Hint: look at the picture of the rock)

Later that afternoon, we stopped at the Phantom Ranch to get more water. Phantom is the place where tourists hike and/or ride donkeys down to the canyon floor. There are several bridge crossings here, along with bathrooms, and overnight accomodations.
